Dance Program/Format

Pro Arte Centre follows the guidelines of two internationally recognized and carefully researched Classical Ballet syllabi:

Ballet Class length & Info

Ballet class ranges from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the level of class. Classes run from once to twice a week. Ballet classes begin in September and run through to June, where they will participate in the end of year show. Pro Arté ensures there is a strong technical component to class, whilst allowing all learning styles to flourish.

Dress code

The dress code for ballet class changes based on the different levels, however the uniform is generally leotard and tights with ballet shoes. Our more senior dancers who are invited to take pointe classes will also be required to purchase pointe shoes. Male dancers are required to wear a white fitted t-shirt or leotard with navy shorts, or navy tights. We require hair to be off the face in a classical bun for all dance classes.

Ballet exams

Examinations are highly recommended but not compulsory at junior levels. Due to a greater sense of goal setting and accomplishment, students who do participate in examinations seem to develop skills quicker and with more confidence. At a major level (Intermediate to Advanced), successful examination results can be applied as external Arts Credits for High School graduation.
